Le Bassin (east) is a neighbourhood of Châteauguay, in Greater Montréal. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 5,371 living in private households. 21.6% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 27.2% across Greater Montréal as a whole; the largest single group was Black at 9.8%. 74.3% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 4.1% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 20.4% of the population, compared with 24.3% citywide. Median household income before tax was $88,000 in 2020, compared with $76,000 for Greater Montréal. 21.6% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 3.77 km², giving a population density of 1,423 people per square kilometre (Greater Montréal averages about 908).
