Saint-Athanase is a neighbourhood of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, in Greater Montréal. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 2,778 living in private households. 1.8% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 27.2% across Greater Montréal as a whole; the largest single group was Latin American at 0.5%. 96.7% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 1.3% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 2.8% of the population, compared with 24.3% citywide. Median household income before tax was $80,000 in 2020, compared with $76,000 for Greater Montréal. 17.2% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 47.72 km², giving a population density of 58 people per square kilometre (Greater Montréal averages about 908).
